I might have considered writing to the manager, and explaining the situation. If it really was your fault for not understanding how the topup was going to work, then I suppose the charge is fair enough, but even banks will relent. Certainly, the Inland Revenue does. I got a £100 fine for sending my tax return a day late this year. I wrote to them and said this was unfair, and they agreed! I paid the bank a visit and got it back last time something similar happened. I'll do the same next time we are in UK. That's a good plan. I imagine that a hint you might move your deposit account elsewhere might be worth a try if you get no joy initially. The only problems I've had with unexpected charges has been with my mobile phone company- in one case I'd been using data services assuming I was on a promotional rate when the promotion was over- racking up around a £30 surcharge. After a while on the phone to them, I got it removed as a 'goodwill gesture.' -- David Horne- www.davidhorne.net usenet (at) davidhorne (dot) co (dot) uk |

I've no qualms about the US having a standard ID card system. I do. It's one of the primary means used to control people in Fascist, Communist, Dictatorial, and Totalitarian countries. We don't have a Carnet National and aren't likely to. It's an extremely dangerous thing to have. __________________________________________________ _________________ Remembering Ronald Reagan: Let Us Remember Lest We Forget http://geocities.com/iconoc/Articles/rReagan.html#t |
