Default Cruise to the Baltic....

What's your criteria for defining best? Does price play a point? If not,
Silversea or Crystal come to mind. Regent and Seabourn as well.

If money is an issue... then what trade offs are you willing to make?

How long do you want to go? What ports?

Default Cruise to the Baltic....

We did the Baltics in 2005 on a Holland America ship. The HAL cruise product
wasn't a great fit for our tastes and interests, but we always select our
port-intensive cruises based on itinerary instead of the cruise line because
the amount of onboard time is minimal. We liked the itinerary HAL offered
for that trip because (1) it wasn't a round trip, so we felt we got the
bonus of extra time in the beginning and ending ports (Rotterdam and
Copenhagen), and (2) HAL ships dock in Stockholm. I, personally, would not
choose a Baltics itinerary that lists the stop as "Stockholm (Nynashamn)"
because docking at Nynashamn means (a) you miss cruising through the scenic
Stockholm archipelago, and (b) the Nynashamn cruise terminal is about an
hour's ground transport time from Stockholm's city center, thus the
roundtrip will eat 2 hours of your precious day in Stockholm.

Happy research and planning!
