Default Lake Tahoe tips, pls!

I'm planning to go to Lake Tahoe late February/early March. Main
purpose is to enjoy the nature and the bauty of the region. I'd
appreciate if anyone could give me some tips. Lodging? Hot spots?
Restaurants? This is a romantic trip. Gambling it is not a major. Thanks

It's said that El Niño is on his way. If so, there's likely to be
significant snow so, obviously, carry chains, blankets, food, and water.

Winter is snow sports time at Lake Tahoe. Bring your skis or snow shoes to
really enjoy the beauty of the area. If you're driving, you are required by
law to carry snow chains in your car and you may be required to mount them at
any time (mostly during blizzards).

Nothing more romantic than helping your loved one mount snow chains!

See if you can rent a condo at one of the ski resort areas such as
SquawValley. I like the restaurants in that resort and also the north
Tahoe area (e.g. Tahoe City).

Second that re North Tahoe and Squaw Valley. South Tahoe features Heavenly
for skiing, but you also have to put up with the casino scene.

First off, you should recognize that there are two distinct areas in the
Tahoe region. The North and South sides are separated by a drive of
about an hour. In fact, the west side drive is closed for the winter,
so the only way to get from one end to the other is the east side.

South side is much more focused on gambling and related entertainment.
There are several big casinos right at the state line. The North side
has a few small casinos at Stateline, and the Hyatt in Incline Village.
Reno is about 50 minutes away.

Given your interests, the North side would be more suitable. There are
many more downhill ski resorts, and IMO better ones. There also are
more other outdoor recreational opportunities on the North side.

?? Are you talking about Hwy 89 from Tahoe City to South Lake Tahoe?
I haven't been to Tahoe in a long time, but I sure don't remember 89
closing for the winter.

Ok experts! Thanks for your inputs. For a Brazilain guy, as you can
imagine, I have no experience with snow things, such as snow chains,
etc. I barely ski. Maybe Feb/Mar it is not a good time for me since the
weather will narrow down my activities options.
Purpose of the trip is to take advantage of a business meeting I'll
have in Dallas, so maybe you could suggest another destination, except
the large cities where I've been a couple of times.
