He's a dickhead. Claims a degree in International Studies
and doesn't seem to be aware that the WAP went the way of
the dodo half a century ago. Obviously he's never been to
Springvale or Cabramatta.

He's not the first to attempt marriage as a means of gaining
citizenship, nor will he be the last, but I'm certain he'll
be one of the least likely to succeed.

Let's face it, first he's got to find a bird (or two
apparently) prepared to join the party. Highly unlikely.

Cheers, Alan, Australia

Citizenship and immigration is for the young, for the most part...

Comparitive economy issues aside, wages for the young [under 40] in Canada
(and AU & NZ I would expect) have fallen quite a bit since the 1980s.
Immigration is partly to blame, but Free Trade issues don't help either.
Some sectors make good money (Tourism), but others are static.

Some people, for very practical reasons ... must permantly migrate -- like
the Kiwi masses that arrive in the Airports each day.

If Canada allowed Kiwis (and Australians) in the same way Australia lets
Kiwis in now -- Australian labour shortage problems would devlop in short
order.

[Canada is probably the smallest G9 nation, only 12m more than Australia --
but economic geography makes Canada richer (harder currency vs NZD or vs
AUD) and more powerful (resource Argapeligo). Australia has not made it into
the G10...]

Oz pensions, aka 'superannuation amounts' would have to be frozen aginst
inflation to hedge some of the the economic problems that substantial
migration to Canad could cause.

Due to ongoing and unresolved 911 security related problems -- Canada may
one day open up its immigration valves for Australiasia by treaty.
Considering the excange rates, and the ANZ region Uni student debit -- this
could really harm the White Collar sector [and the "Creative Class"] in the
ANZ region.
