Default Travel plan in X'mas

Is it too early to make travel plans for X'mas? We are planning to go
to South America, Brazil to be specific, in X'mas. The fares all
exceed $1,000. I know we have to pay some form of ransom either way
travelling during that period. In 2002, a little over a year post 9/11
when people are still reeling from the WTC collapse we paid $278 per
person flying from Phila to Rio. Although with security fees and taxes
each ticket came to a little over $400. We bought the tickets a few
weeks before making the journey. I know those days will never be back.

We paid $100 each person in 2002 to get a five year tourist Visa to
Brazil. We'd like to used it again before it expires in 2007.

If you have any flexibility in dates, you'll probably spend less and
enjoy more by avoiding holiday rush.

If you don't, then just go and enjoy yourself anyway.

No can do. Kids have three weeks of winter recess starting just before
X'mas. Guess I'll wait a few weeks watching how the fares move. If
they do at all.
