Default Rental Cars at or near Port Everglades?

Hi all

I have another car rental question. My family will taking a Princess
cruise out of Port Everglades in Ft. Lauderdale this coming February
and most likely will rent a car for a day or two before or after the
sailing. Other than Hertz can anyone tell about other companies that
have locations at or near Port Everglades? I have found that Hertz
will not allow you to return cars to this location for whatever
reason. I was hoping to use them, as I would like to be able have
"Never Lost." Also anyone out there ever use "Never Lost?" Also not
sure if I like their rate of $80 or so for a day.

Thanks
M. Graham

Port Everglades is just a short hop to Ft. Lauderdale Airport. You should
be able to pick up or relocate a Hertz car to that point. I think 80 bucks
a day for Neverlost is outrageous. I've had it as a free upgrade many times
and it's pretty good. But I don't know 'bout the 80 bucks. FYI - You can
buy Microsoft Streets & Trips 2005 package WITH a GPS receiver for around $
80.00, (Providing you want to carry your lap-top with you.) (I use S&T at
least twice a week, and it's excellent.)

Thanks I discovered after looking a map that the airport and Port
Everglades are not that far away. Also looks like Budget has a rental
location near Port Everglades. My guess it that Hertz is charging an
extra fee to rent a car from the port and then return it to the
airport. Kind of wish I had a PDA that I could use with a GPS (I have
a palm Tungsten E).

I have a PDA but found it too for maps, and not enough detail. I use my
laptop on the seat.

The airport and the port are the same Hertz location. They are less than a mile
frome each other. There are some fee they pay and pass on based on where the shuttle
bus takes you or drops you off. All of the FLL rental car outfits serve the port.
