Default HAL SITE vs CRUISE TO GO

I found a Crusie, on Crusie To Go.com Vancover to Alaska and back to back
return, Travel agt when he tried to book the Balcony/suite was much higher
than Cruise to go, (the time frame is July 2005). Maybe Cruise to Go bought
a block of rooms? any thoughts. TIA

Anybody booked through Crusie to Go, it where I get all my information.... I
love the last 90 day ticker, have seen many bargins, but alway something
stops the trip, mostly Grandchildren having a function that I must attend

I think booking a cruise from a website is kind of scary, so I never
do, but.....when I went to cruises to go and saw that they are
prominently listing the Norway cruise for $399 I really was surprised.
Isn't the Norway out of commission now?

YIKES you are right!!! they list her as doing year rounds, at least they

don't show any departure dates.

Last I heard she was barely holding her own with no plans for the future.

Hi June,

The Norway has only been out of commission for only about 15
months. ;+)

Hi June,

Yes, boiler explosion and fire. It does not engender a great deal of
trust, does it? :+(

It makes sense if you actually read it.... it says to call for more info...
an inexperienced cruiser might do that, just seeing the price... and then be
told that the ship was out of service and offered something else which would
of course be more expensive. They call that "bait and switch" and it's
(usually? always?) illegal. In travel as in most purchases... buyer beware!

Yes, I thought of that -- but it is too ridiculous as far as I'm
concerned. People are already leery about booking from websites. For
example, have you read how many people post on this group asking if
anyone has ever used this site or that site for booking? So you go to
the site, and you see something that is so out of date, it just looks
BAAAAAAAAD. It appears as if they don't know what's going on and don't
care.

But many people still seem to look at booking with one of the internet sites
before considering booking with one of the "real person" TA's who post here.

"I'm sorry sir, that fare is sold out (there was only one cabin), but
we can book you into one for four times the price, now that we have
you hooked"

Yeah, that sounds like a bait & switch.

Most of those $99 faxes I get work like that. Can't prove it's a bait
& switch, but you just know it is.

The OP said cruisetogo.com not cruiseStogo.com :-)

I personally have no problem with booking online opposed to a local TA.
Depending on the service I receive, I'd reuse them or not.
