Vancouver airport to Tsawwassen
Need advice please.
1. Driving times -best and worst. Looking at Saturday afternoon. 2. Is there a shuttle service available for this trip? 3. What would a cab cost? What is the recommended way of getting from airport to Van island aside from air? |

What is the recommended way of getting from airport to Van island aside from air? "Recommended" is a matter of opinion, and I haven't done this trip enough times to be able to say what way is best, but I can tell you there's regularly scheduled bus service between Vancouver airport and Victoria. The Tsawwassen-Swartz Bay ferry trip is included in the bus fare. See http://www.pacificcoach.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=schedule.airport. This worked for me when I took it three years ago. They have regular service, priority boarding, and are quite reasonable. |

The variable is the tunnel you have to go through. If there are no accidents in the tunnel I would allow about 45 minutes. If there's an accident all bets are off. 2. Is there a shuttle service available for this trip? Yep: http://www.pacificcoach.com/index.cf...hedule.airport Advantage to the bus is assured loading. If you're on the bus you're guaranteed to be on the ferry. 3. What would a cab cost? Well, I've never done it by cab, but I would guesstimate $45 +/- $10 + tip. Tom Box or Toronto, ON, Canada There is only a very complex Transit Route with 2 transfer points between the Vancouver Airport and the Tsawassen Ferry terninal . This hassle you do not need. Tsawassen is 8-10 miles from the airport. The Ferries leave both ends of theTsawassen and Swatrtz Bay trip on the Odd hours from 7 AM to 9 PM. A long wait if you just miss one. Ferry ride is 1 hour 35 minutes. If you opt not take a cab and are staying in Vancouver for a visit and then go to Victoria, the Victoria bus is your best bet. It leaves Vancouver every 2 hours on the EVEN hours and your luggage is no problem as the bus goes on the ferry with you and then on into downtown Victoria. The trip from Vancouver to Victoria by bus takes 3 hours minimum. The trip into the Vancouver Bus Depot from the airport to catch the Victoria bus will take at least 45 minutes. Both Vancouver and Victoria are some 20 miles from their Ferry Terminals. Have a good time! |

I wasn't talking about the local transit buses, but about intercity buses. the Victoria bus is your best bet. This is the bus I was referring to. It stops at the airport, which is between downtown Vancouver and Tsawwassen, so there's no need to go to the Vancouver bus terminal if your destination is Victoria. See the URL I gave above. We're facing the same issue for our trip to Vancouver so I called Royal
Coach Lines at 1-800-661-1725. They were very helpful. The alternative transportation seems to be float plane and helicopter, both of which only take 30 minutes between Vancouver and Victoria.
