Our favorite was on the old Seawind Crown. Passengers would bid on and
"buy" the horses, then give them a name, decorate them and carry them
all over the ship for days, then race them on the last sea day. We bid
for awhile, but one group got up $600 for their horse (a little rich for
my gambling budget) and we quit. Bets on the races were otherwise the
same. I have not seen this on another ship until the Norway this year.

I sailed on the Norway Jan. 2003 and they did not have horse racing.
The last time I saw racing was on the WORLD EXPLORER CRUISE in 1995.
(Alaska) The logo for our horse was a cow, we dressed him/her in black and
white. A real loser.
Crusing in the 70's and 80's they would make racing a weekly event.
Happy Holidays.

I have seen horse racing more than once on cruises. They still do it on
some ships. We were even part owners once. It was cute.

My first "gambling" experience. : ) 1971 on the Italian Line. They had
horse racing every night after dinner.

I think a bet was a .25.
