House hunters' bargain hot spot expands. Eleven-and-a-half kilometres
from the CBD is proving to be the right distance for value seeking
home buyers, according to a report that lists the 24 most attractive
suburbs in Australia for investment opportunitie. The Melbourne
suburbs of Chadstone, Brunswick and Flemington made the list, compiled
by St George Bank, because they offered the best mix of location,

SKIPPY The Bush Kanagaroo: Australia's First Superstar. Narrated by
Magda Szubanski, this one-hour documentary is a warm, witty,
affectionate and definitive look at one of Australia's most cherished
TV stars, Skippy the bush kangaroo. Everybody remembers Skippy! 91
episodes sold in 128 countries, watched by hundreds of millions
worldwide, the show put Australia firmly on the global map and for
those of a certain generation, the heroic marsupial is synonymous with
their childhood, often in more profound ways than they realise...

Try this new citizenship test. So the Don's out. The new citizenship
test will no longer ask people to learn the cricketer's test average
or about Walter Lindrum's billiards prowess. According to the
Minister for Immigration, Chris Evans, the aim is to include people,
not block them out in an "Australiana Quiz".

Population to now hit 35 million by 2049. AUSTRALIA'S population will
hit 35 million in 40 years - seven million more than had been expected
- as a rising birthrate and rapid migration almost double the rate of
population growth. The larger population will be younger, on average,
than was expected when Treasury last prepared forecasts two years
ago. http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au...rom=public_rss

College's collapse leaves 61 stranded. ANOTHER private training
college has collapsed, leaving scores of Australian students in limbo
and raising fears that problems in international education have spread
to colleges that teach local students. The College of Creative Arts
and Technology was closed on September 2 after Victoria's education
regulator learnt it was insolvent. Education authorities are
scrambling to place 61 students in new courses.

Government failing 'silent asylum seekers'. The Australian
Immigration Department has been criticised for failing to adequately
protect people facing human rights abuses in their home countries. A
young Kenyan woman who came to Australia for World Youth Day wants to
stay because she claims she will be circumcised if she returns to
Kenya. http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2...section=justin
