Recommendations for the perfect climate?
"strawberry icecream" wrote in message ... I was wondering where in the world you would recommend for the perfect climate? This would also include having little danger of hurricanes, volcanic activity, earthquakes, etc. Not knowing what you mean by "perfect", I would suggest San Diego. As least the SD chamber of commerce would have you believe. Volcanic activity and earthquakes are not climatic events. Any suggestions? TIA |

Volcanic activity and earthquakes are not climatic events. I loved San Francisco, when there in 1996...........everyone said to go to SD, great climate the said. But I didn't have time to make it down. SD does have a fabulous climate, but *at the coast* (which includes SD proper). Go 15 miles inland and you have quite a different story. Scalding hot summers and relatively cold winters. But the coastal strip - several miles wide and up the coast for hundreds of miles - is paradise, pure and simple. I'm not going to guild the lily by saying more. Besides, folks would want to come and Live here. Not a good idea: Very dangerous. We have huge flying cockroaches the size of small dogs here, that will bite your arm off in a second. They only attack residents due to San Diegans having absorbed the 'scent of the locale' - what Lawrence Durrell called 'Spirit of Place - a well-known, fully documented phenomenon. Takes about a month to acquire this. Tourists have nothing to fear and of course are very welcome. Nex |

I agree that SD has a nice climate, but most of the California coast has a similar climate (plus or minus a few degrees). Much nicer than anywhere else in the USA, except for parts of Hawaii. |

Much nicer than anywhere else in the USA, except for parts of Hawaii. what parts/islands of Hawaii would you recommend? It depends on what you like personally. There is only one city in Hawaii and that's Honolulu on Oahu. Temperatures at sea level are a little warmer than in say Mililani on Oahu or Kula on Maui. Hawaii is much cooler in the summer than is San Diego and much warmer in the winter. Unlike San Diego, it never gets cold in Hawaii, 65 probably being the lowest you might experience at sea level and even that is very rare. Lows in the winter are usually about 68 degress and in the low 70s in the summer. Highs are usually high 70s or low 80s in the winter and high 80s in the Summer. It is extremely rare, but sometimes it does hit 90 degrees in Hawaii on the western shores. Each island has it's own unique and distinct characteristics; personally, I like the Big Island of Hawaii best because it has the most physical variety. It seems though, that most people like Kauai best and Maui second best. For information about each individual island, you are invited to visit my Hawaii webpage at: ~ http://hawaii.home.att.net/ - where you'll find no advertising, no pop-ups, no cookies and nothing for sale. The western shores tend to be drier and hotter (e.g., Kona). The northern shores tend to have the biggest surf. The southern shores tend to have the most moderate weather (e.g., Waikiki). Mountain areas can get a lot of rain, especially during the winter. |
