Default A World-Class Museum

The Hubei Provincial Museum is an amazing museum with an impressive collection of artifacts excavated from areas throughout Hubei Province. The most famous are the bronze bells (bianzhong) excavated from the Tomb of Marquis Yi. They have also made copies which they perform with, so that you can hear how these instruments sound. The lacquered drum stands are another unique Chu instrument, used to call back souls after death. By no means are these the only impressive part of the museum. It is teeming with amazing artifacts from the ancient Chu State, a heavily Taoist kingdom that was quite unique and influential in the development of China well after the fall of the Chu State. The museum features a wide variety of jade objects, pottery/ceramics, weaponry, armor, and more! Give yourself a few hours to explore the museum. English explanations are provided near some of the exhibits, and English books about the museum and exhibits are available inThe Hubei Provincial Museum is an amazing museum with an impressive collection of artifacts excavated from areas throughout Hubei Province.
