" You may be interested to know that global warming, earthquakes,
hurricanes, and other natural disasters are a direct effect of the
shrinking numbers of Pirates since the 1800s. For your interest, I
have included a graph of the approximate number of pirates versus the
average global temperature over the last 200 years. As you can see,
there is a statistically significant inverse relationship between
pirates and global temperature."

Where's the graph? I thought there were rather a lot of pirates still
in some parts of the world.

And, so we can check that the theory is correct, what does it predict?

A scientist is doing an experiment on a frog which responds to voice
command. Jump! The frog did jump. He cut of one of its hind legs.
Jump! The frog jumped with one hind leg. He then cut off its other
legs to find the frog jumped until its has no limbs left.

So he concluded, "Upon losing all of its limbs, the frog also loses its
hearing."
