Ins and Outs of renting a car on St Martin
Hi:
My wife and I will be staying at Le Meridien L'Habitation in March. Many suggest renting a car due to the relative remoteness of the resort. Do I rent once I get there? Should I arrange ahead of time through a travel agent? What if I won't need the car for the whole time? Will availability be an issue? Do you buy insurance or is it figured into the cost? Thanks! Jon-- There was an informative thread here a very short time ago with a number of posts on this topic--some directly related to the questions you're asking. Sorry about the size of the link but I picked it up here (if it works). It also may still be on your newsreader. http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=e...r%26rnum %3D2 Many of the answers to your questions come under the heading of personal preference IMO. Plenty of cars usually are available at the agencies at the airport, but some people prefer to reserve ahead. IMO, you get a better price by waiting 'till you're there, but that may not matter. Enjoy the Meridien--but you do need a vehicle if you intend to go out and about. And check the brakes--the hills back and forth are pretty steep! |

Please check out www.traveltalkonline. They have a St Martin forum which will
answer all of your questions. I would rent a car, our last trip we used Unity and were very satisfied. |

Try Hibiscus. They'll usually have an auto for rent.

Ins and Outs of renting a car on St Martin
I just rented a car for a day from Avis and picked it up right next to the
cruise dock. It let us see the whole island in our short amount of time there. We plan on going to spend a week there soon. Does anyone know if there is ever discount airfare to St. Martin? It always seems like it costs $750 or more to go from LAX. Any tips on cheep air? -- --------------------- ] Remove the (NOSPAM) to reply --------------- "jon" wrote in message om... Talked to a fellow yesterday who had paid about $850 from Tampa to St Barths. Subtract $150 for the SXM-SBH part and he paid $700 for TPASXM. I've paid about $560 IADSXM. Your $700 from the West Coast doesn't sound too bad to me. BTW, American now includes the SXM exit tax in their fares - so you no longer have the additional $20 to fork over when you leave the island. A pleasant surprise. |
