Wine Package on the Oasis of the Seas
Since no carry-ons are allowed, it looks like we will buy a wine package for
an upcoming cruise. One package is $195 for 7 bottles, which is fine if we get them when we board. However, if they are held for us in the dining room, 7 is too many. Does anyone know how it works? Do you have possession of the 7 and then bring your bottle to the dining room? Thanks. |

Just one thing to think about, if you plan on drinking any of that wine in the dining room, I would recommend you have some/all of the bottles delivered there. If you have them delivered to your stateroom and bring a bottle to the dining room Royal will charger you a corkage fee. If the bottles are already in the dining roon, no corkage fee will be charged. |

I was just on the Mariner out of Los Angeles and three couples got a wine package. They were allowed to take it up to their room and bring any opened ones back down for dinner. Larry |

There is usually no problem bringing wine purchased on the ship to the dining room. I have often brought my in room present wine to dinner. The wait staff can recognize wine from the ships store and if any question talk to the Maitre'd. Joseph Coulter Joseph Coulter Cruises and Vacations www.josephcoulter.com |

Joseph Coulter Joseph Coulter Cruises and Vacationswww.josephcoulter.com There was a lengthy thread on Cruise Critic a month or two ago regarding Royal Caribbean charging a corkage fee for wine purchased through them if it was delivered to the cabin and the passenger brought it to the dining room. There was even one person who received a bottle of champagne by the Captain at the Captains reception who brought it to the dining room to share with their table and was told he'd have to pay a corkage fee. This also applied to passenger who received gifts of wine either from family/friends or their TA. If it was delivered to their cabin and they wanted to bring it to the dining room they were charged a corkage fee. I did a search and found the thread: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1107009 Hi, My wife and I always get a wine card and enjoy reviewing the different levels and quantities of wine available on different cards at different prices. Don't expect fine wines as they don't do well in a ship's environment (moisture and motion), however, there will be several pleasant wines to enjoy. If you like wine like we do, get an ample supply, after all, you're there for a good time and you won't be driving. We have never found the need to shuttle bottles between venues, but getting our bottle in different restaurants has been no problem. It should be a simple thing to inquire as you sign up for the card whether you can avoid corkage fees. If you want to prevent any possible fuss, write up a simple note saying there will be no corkage fees moving the bottles between locations on the ship and insist it be signed by the person selling the card. Usually, the wine steward, if any, or Maitre D' are good about discussing wines with you and frequently there will be wine tastings to sample the wares. My wife saves the corks and has a display at home. I hope this helps. Harry Cooper |

Hasn't happened to me yet, but with the increase of revenue demands on each ship's department it will happen inthe future. It used to be if you gave your wine steward cash say $10 when the fee was 15 that they would "forget" to have you sign for the corkage, now they are there with the form early and often. That said I have not had trouble taking my bottles from venue to venue, YET. Joseph Coulter Joseph Coulter Cruises and Vacations www.josephcoulter.com |

I know that they wont be charging you any corkage fee on the dining room as they don't allow you to bring your own wine. The packages that you will be buying will be the only one's that you will be allowed on board (including the alcoholic drinks that you may purchase on restaurants and
bars on board). The package for wines on the vessel is not that expensive anyways plus you are allowed to take it home if you cannot consume all. |
