There are many cruise ships coming to the port El Guamache at Isla de
Margarita, Venezuela now. What they will not tell you is that there is a
very nice, free beach right next to where they dock. You can buy
refreshments and there is 89 artisans at the beach who make crafts,
jewelry and other items you can purchase for souvenirs and gifts.

While there is political unrest in Caracas, Margarita is laid back.
There are many beautiful beaches and Porlamar has lots of good shopping.
You can exchange your US dollar for 1600 bolivars to shop with. Shopping
is tax free.

The people are friendly and many of them are learning or already
know English.

Come visit us on Margarita where the sun shines, the breezes blow and
you are always welcome.

You can view many recent photos of the island at

I have not stayed at the Dunes but I have visited the resort. It has a
beautiful beach and the grounds are pretty and well cared for. The lady
I talked to was very friendly and helpful and spoke English. My brother
stayed there for a week. It is located off by itself on the island. They
have nice facilities and dining is available there. I am sure they offer
bus service to other areas.

I stayed at Lagunamar resort a week and it was fabulous.
http://www.skyauction.com has some great deals on resorts
here. The Hilton also has a gorgeous beach and grounds. It is closer to
town. I have a friend who has a three bedroom four bath condo for rent
near shopping and restaurants. They speak English.
