Where to go! Clearwater, Daytona, Cocoa Beach Help !! **
need some major help on destinations and beaches and attractions in fl..
We have some areas picked out but need some reviews and respons on these locations!!! Me and my boyfriend are going to fl in July to visit a friend in Orlando. We want to be on the beach!! So we are concluding to.. 1- Clearwater 2- Daytona 3- Cocoa Beach Which one is better out of all of those? I like white sand and blue water ( but I can handle yeloow sand) I would like the beach to be clean. And alot of things to do. I am 22 my boyfriend is 26 so we are still young we would like to be some where it is crowded but to much. Which of those have the best night clubs? We like dance music. shopping. And also where on the beaches should we get our hotel? Like the areas (north, south, ) addy examples.. Because I remember I went to Daytona awhile ago and I think we were at the end of the beach where there really was nothing. I think that has alot to do with where you are staying on the beach is the area !!!! Alot of nice hotels we are finding but I dont know if they are good areas. I would appreciate all of your feed back !!! If you know of any other good beaches around the Orlando let me know !!! Thanks, Coalette |

Where to go! Clearwater, Daytona, Cocoa Beach Help !! *
FL beaches don't really have the active "boardwalk scene" like the
northern atlantic beaches do. Cocoa is quiet, Clearwater can be quiet with some clubs and shops. Daytona might be the best. South Beach in Miami sounds more like your style. |

Don't know how long your vacation is, but, after visiting your friend in
Orlando you might consider hopping aboard the Carnival Cruise Line ship, Fantasy for a trip to the Bahamas. You will get plenty of entertainment, nightclubs, and a nice beach out of the deal. You do have to book the cruise in advance and can't just show up at the pier and get on board. |

Me and my boyfriend are going to fl in July to visit a friend in Orlando. We want to be on the beach!! So we are concluding to.. 1- Clearwater Furthest away. Probably roughly 2 hours depending upon where in Orlando and time of day. St. Petersburg is a bit easier to get to most of the time. 2- Daytona Further than Cocoa, but not much. A bit over an hour. 3- Cocoa Beach Closest, but still a good hour. Which one is better out of all of those? I like white sand and blue water ( but I can handle yeloow sand) I would like the beach to be clean. And alot of things to do. I am 22 my boyfriend is 26 so we are still young we would like to be some where it is crowded but to much. Daytona is for the young crowd generally Which of those have the best night clubs? We like dance music. shopping. This is going to depend a bit upon how much you want to drive at night. Clearwater is basically Tampa and if you don' mind driving a little, the larger Tampa/St. Petersburg/Clearwater area is full of nightclubs and such. You'd probably like Ybor City in Tampa. And also where on the beaches should we get our hotel? Like the areas (north, south, ) addy examples.. Because I remember I went to Daytona awhile ago and I think we were at the end of the beach where there really was nothing. North end near Ormond Beach. The southern end (south of the main pier) is where most of the action is. I think that has alot to do with where you are staying on the beach is the area !!!! Alot of nice hotels we are finding but I don't know if they are good areas. I would appreciate all of your feed back !!! You don't mention whether you plan on visiting your friend everyday or just once as you pass through. If you plan on commuting back and forth to Orlando, I'd suggest you stay in Cocoa. You can consider New Smyrna or Ormond but I suspect they might be a little on the dull side for you. Daytona is problematic only because it take so long to get out of Daytona and on your way to Orlando. If you know of any other good beaches around the Orlando let me know !!! The beaches over on the Gulf of Mexico around Tampa (St. Pete, Clearwater, Sarasota, etc.) are considered some of the best in Florida and have whiter sand generally than the Atlantic coast beaches. And, as I said, over there you are basically in Tampa's back yard for night life. However, it's a good 2 hours drive each way to Orlando. If you are planning on just visiting your friend and then leaving, you really have choices ranging from St. Augustine to West Palm and from Fort Meyers to Clearwater. You might even look into a town called Delray Beach. And you didn't mention where in Orlando your friend lives. It's a good 30 minute drive from the north end (Sanford really) to the more southern end (Kissimmee) and at least as much if not more east to west. This could heavily influence which beach is "closest" to your friend. |
