Default Furnishing home in Mexico

A friend of mine recently purchased a home in the Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo area.
He needs to furnish it and I understand it is very expensive to import
furniture and was hoping someone could provide some good sources in Mexico to
buy furnature.
I really appreciate any help you could provide.
Thank you!

Tell your friend to go to a local store. Mexicans use furniture too, and
the things they make there are rather nice.

If he wants Mexican decor, he should be able to find it locally. If he
wanted the Scandinavian look, it might be more of a challenge, and a
trip to the nearest large city might be in order. Lazaro Cardenas is two
hours away, Acapulco about 5 hours.

I would just ask local people where to find the kind of furniture that
he is looking for. You might be able to find a local craftsman who
would make whatever they are looking for, but you would have to ask around.

Furniture is best bought locally. Only a resident of Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo
could help you, tourists and travelers don't buy furniture.

If he drives up through Uruapan on Highway 37 up near the national park
he'll find a town where they make nothing but furniture. It's Mexican
style stuff but, hey, this is Mexico. On the same road there's another
town where they make nothing but guitars.

Also if they want to buy regular electronics, house appliances, no
hand-craft furniture, etc. there must be a local furniture store, like
an Electra, or maybe Coppel, also there is Famsa, they have their
website www.famsa.com.mx and they do deliver nationwide, check them up.

Regards
