Default Using American TomTom in Australia?

Hello:

I was wondering whether a TomTom GO 910 (GPS device) purchased in the
US can be used in Australia (once the right maps are purchased)? I
would think so, but if anyone knows of any incompatibilities/
recharging issues please post here.

Thanks.

Both the Tomtom USA and Australia websites do not list any add on maps
of Australia for sale. Only various countries of Western Europe.

Garmin on the other does offer add on Australia city maps for their
GPS's on SD cards for $320 US. At that price it might be actually
cheaper for you to try and find an older model Australian GPS on sale at
Dick Smith Electronic's instead.

Tom Tom is widely used here, so I can't imagine you will have any problem
getting the appropriate maps.

TomTom maps

Hi All,

I'm new to this, but have been in touch with TomTom as I want a copy
of TTNav 5 with Oz maps. Here's their reply

Thank you for your interest in TomTom. You can purchase on SD card
maps of Australia with TomTom NAVIGATOR 5 software from retail stores.
Please see the link below for a list of stores.
http://www.tomtom.com/stores/type.ph...e=8&Country=13
The recommended retail price is $399 for the SD card.
If the store you visit does not have the SD card in stock they can
order one in for you from the TomTom distributor Ingram Micro.
TomTom will not be selling its own Bluetooth GPS receiver, just the
software and maps on SD card.

With best regards,

The TomTom Customer Support Team
