ETA vs Visa

Has any one had any experience using an ETA (Electronic Travel
Authority) rather than a conventional visa for travel from the US to
Åustralia.
Any tips or pointers?

I'm not from the US (but from The Netherlands), but have used
conventional visa in the past and ETAs for our last three or so trips.
No problems whatsoever. However with an ETAs you can only stay three
months in Oz (and they're only for tourists/business travellers, not for
work or study), so they are not a replacement for all visa.

Any tips

Record and keep the "reference number" which you get on/from the
website.
