Carnival Liberty - Cruise From Hell
The cabin deck just below the pool deck is normally the highest and the
highest price as well. Don't book this deck if you are bothered by noise of running or furniture moving above. Normally inside cabins in the low decks are the cheapest and quietest on the ship, you won't have the sun wake you up. $80 was a very nice refund, use it to start building your own ship! You have to look at the deck plans of every ship before you book. At least I do. -- Janet Wilder Way-the-heck-south Texas Spelling doesn't count. Cooking does. |

It didn't show that we were directly across from the laundry room. We are not early to bed people but it was very annoying to hear people talking very loudly at 3 and 4 in the morning even though there were signs about it. They eventually closed the laundry room late at night. |

They don't have laundry rooms for passengers. :-) -- Janet Wilder Way-the-heck-south Texas Spelling doesn't count. Cooking does. |

There are many discussions there about the different ships and which cabins are to be avoided (or preferred). I had a problem with our cabin on Celebrity Galaxy several years ago. It turns out that there was something underneath my cabin (maybe food storage) and you would hear doors sliding open and closed at odd hours. I had read about it on CC but there were differing reports on whether it was resolved or not. It was not. And when I tried to ask about it at the captain's Q&A session, the CD would not let me ask and told me we could talk about it offline. They never did anything about it, but I did get the kitchen tour I had been asking for (and I was not entitled to it from my status), not sure if that was related to my complaining. Bill |

Carnival Liberty - Cruise From Hell
I browsed Cruise Critic and Cruise Reviews and found only ONE note
concerning the exact cabin I was assigned to. All that was said was there was some noise from the top deck during events. Nothing was said about continuous noise from furniture movement. On the Carnival website, some people have got downright nasty with me, placing the blame on me for not doing my research. However, all of these so called experienced cruisers didn't once give me a link to where I could find the necessary information. I know about the ones above and am a member of them, but they didn't even mention those. I won't comment on a subject that requires a link unless I can provide it. I wasn't the problem on that cruise. Carnival wasn't the problem, the crew wasn't the problem, and neither were the passengers. The designers are the problem for not insulating cabins from the Lido deck (mid ships). I recommended to Carnival that a quick fix would be to install rubber feet on the tables and chairs. At least that would cut the noise factor to less than half and not cost a lot to do. I would love to hear from other cruisers that have had noisy cabins. We should have Cruise Critic or another site create a listing of cabins on all lines that are not desirable for one reason or another. Thanks for your gracious response. Gadget Gadget Smart A**. Only kidding. In all of the good and smart assed responses I've received here and on the Carnival website forums, NOBODY recommended a website to visit in order to check cabin location or desirability, except for one that listed a site where you can actually overlay decks. Now THAT would have been of some help, but then maybe not since I didn't know until we boarded that there were loose furniture around that part of the deck. Even then I didn't think my cabin would vibrate from the noise. I challenge anyone to book Cabin 8319 or any one around it on either side of the ship and report back that they didn't hear any deck noise, noise so bad that it woke you up, unless of course you are a deep sleeper. I also wasn't the only one complaining. Just the vocal one. -- **U.S. Army Retired - USPS Retired** **Degreed in CS, BS, HBS** **Notary Public, State of Kansas** **Licensed for Conceal and Carry** |

I disagree about whose fault it is. The line paid for the ship and could have paid for more sound insulation. The builder isn't going to provide it gratis. There is an attitude by some experienced in cruises, by no means all, who have an attitude that everyone should know what they have learned. |

I see some smart assed posters have shown up, and people were complaining about Charles and others. They are the ones that gave me straight answers without the snide remarks. If someone is going to respond to someone that had a bad experience, smart assed responses only make it more difficult. Few have actually provided useful links or positive feedback. I also notice that none have sailed the Liberty. -- **U.S. Army Ret - U.S.P.S. Ret ** |
