Need advice for daytime, early evening hot spots in Cazumel
Hi.
Our boat stops in Cazumel for only 10 hours, from noon to 10pm, and we're looking for any spots that will be rocking a little early. Any really popular (ala crowded) dance places that early? Any unusual or wild places to eat or have some drinks? We're also looking for advice on topless optional beaches there (that are reasonably close to get to given the time constraints) and some places to shop. Thanks in advance. |

COZUMEL (note spelling) is not a rocking party type town. There aren't to my knowledge any topless beaches especially not near the cruise ship docks. It also isn't a big shopping town. Mainly what people do in Cozumel is snorkel and dive. (Paul Coene) wrote: Hi. The skinny on the cruise newsgroup (rec.travel.cruises) is that some of the beaches on the east side are occationally topless or clothing optional. Note that they are also not places one can swim, due to dangerous currents. If you take the ferry over to Playa del Carmen, the beach is generally topless- friendly because many Europeans use it. It's important to remember that the locals, who are fairly conservative, do not like this. YMMV but I hate going somewhere and doing something that offends the average Joe on the street, whether that means avoiding sleeveless shirts and shorts when visiting Italian churches or wearing a suit in the Mexican Caribbean. When cruise ships are in town, Carlos 'n Charlies, which is fairly touristy, tries to be rocking the whole time. In the center of San Miguel, the main town, are lots of places to shop, with a lot of the usual caribbean vendors, albeit smaller shops, some Mexican silver places. Hope this helps.
