I don't know about the middle of nowhere, but if there is a small town
nearby the answer is yes. Some will be listed in guide books, but if you
contact the local tourism office for where you will be they will tell you.
Usually it is one of the local bike shops.

They only look like hills if you have spent a considerable time in NL.


Well, lately I've been nowhere except Groningen (province), Friesland
and Drenthe. I love the landscape dearly, for sure, but it is as flat
as flat gets.

Any fule in NL nose that the gears are needed to fight the winds.


The missus has a proper omafiets and sneers at gears.

Hills, oh yes. Lots ! There is even an area called the Funen
Alps (De Fynske Alper):
