Default OK explain Heathrow ?

I have looked at the multi level map until I am dizzy. Looks like United is
in terminal 1 for arrival and departure? AA BA and Virgin T3 ?

Why? What could be simpler? Select your destination and your airline...

I am coming into it via United. Sounds simple. Just add rush hour to it
then add a 13 year old
who has never been out of Oklahoma and mix well.

It's an immigration department trick to eliminate unsuitable tourists.

Well, let me offer the consolation that they DO at least speak English
at Heathrow! In theory, at least - I remember encountering one
attendant there whose accent was so hard to understand I asked him where
he was from (assuming some foreign country). His reply? "London."
(All Englishmen don't sound like the actors on American TV imports from
the BBC.)

Default OK explain Heathrow ?

Well I lived in London for 13 years. That was in the 1970's. Looking at all
of this info online is great but hitting the ground running is another. I
have not traveled internationally since I was sentenced to Oklahoma for
life. I took the family to South Padre via American Airlines and it was a
nightmare.Flights were cancelled and delayed, gates were changed in Dallas
and it just got worse from there.
I just need a individual to offer their perspective / observations upon
arrival at Heathrow. I don't want to dive into rush hour London with baggage
but I do want to keep going until that evening ,as late as possible, hence
wanting to hit St John's Wood and up Finchley to Swiss Cottage and towards
Hampstead Heath. So what is there to do for 2 1/2 to 3 hours at Heathrow? At
that point we could take the tube to Baker Street and walk up to NW8.

I also am debating whether to buy GBP or the Euro before arrival or wait
until we hit London.
I was also wondering about the various hostels and the general enviorement
of them. The hotel we booked is crap but centrally located but can still be
cancelled. I want my daughter to exp as much as possible but obviously some
hostels are not for 13 year olds and their father's.

Yeah, but what does that have to do with the website? The link you were
given answered your terminal question perfectly.

Would you be so much worse off if they insisted on saying "NO",
"**** off", and "That's not my job" in Mandarin instead?
