Default Tasmania Accommodation needed and advice

Hi,

Does anyone know of any reasonably priced accommodation places to stay for 1
or 2 nights for 5 adults, 2 couples and 1 single, in either:

Hobart or surrounding area, does not have to be in Hobart itself - will be
visiting Port Arthur, the city, Huon area and Bruny Island, so need a base
for a couple of nights

Strahan or surrounds, again does not need to be in Strahan - would like to
do the world heritage cruise, anyone been on this cruise, was it good value?

Has anyone been to Arthur River and done the cruise there, what did you
think of it?

Would like to do some touring from Strahan to Derwent Bridge, where is a
good base to do this from?

Will be primarily based in Launceston, is it possible to do day trips and
return from here?

Your help appreciated, have about 10 days in total to tour around.

cheers

Linda

See if you can get hold of the Tassie Temptations brochure from a
travel agent or the Tasmanian Tourist Bureau, this has a comprehensive
guide to accommodation and things to do.

The Cosy Cabins chain has self contained cabins in most of the popular
areas including Hobart, Port Arthur, Strahan and Launceston (actually
Hadspen just out of Launceston).

As I recall on the Strahan-Derwent Bridge region your choices are
Strahan, Queenstown or Derwent Bridge there's not much else in that
area.

There are plenty of day trips in the Launceston area (in fact Hobart is
only a couple of hours away). Take a look at Woolmers near Longford,
Evandale, Entally House (Hadspen), Ross.

See if you can time it to be in Hobart on a Saturday for the Salamanca
market. Other places near Hobart are the Tahune Air Walk (Geeveston),
Richmond, the Salmon Ponds at Plenty, Bruny Island, the Hastings caves
and so on and so forth, you won't be bored.

We made the cruise and really enjoyed it. We stayed in Queenstown Empire
Hotel which was like basic backpacker with bath on the corridor etc. But
it was an experience.

Has anyone been to Arthur River and done the cruise there, what did you

We only heard of it from some tassis. We told, that we made the Stahan
tour and they said, we should have rather made the Arthur cruise,
because it is a little familiar tour. But this was ten years ago.

Enjoy tasmania an greetings to the wildlife

Thank you Niels, the Arthur tour is definitely cheaper, might give that a
go.
