Yes, absolutely, and it was from Zanzibar. They put a stamp on your plane
ticket, and the ticket agent was checking for them.

Yes, absolutely, and it was from Zanzibar. They put a stamp on your plane
ticket, and the ticket agent was checking for them.

Yeah, I tossed out the word 'visa' too quickly. Its officially an 'exit
stamp'.
But its still required, and a form of robbery if you ask me.

Several African countries charge an airports tax when you leave. It's
always payable in foreign, never local currency.

Question is.... what can they do if you don't have money to pay it.
Detain you at the airport?

That's a departure tax. TZS 5000 IIIRC.

Several other countries do it but steathily add it to the ticket price.
The U.K. charges GBP 20, GBP 40 if you fly in a class other than economy.

payable in TZS at ZNZ
