Default U.S. government sitting on $200m gain from Air Stabilisation Fund

Like the Chrysler bailout, providing the loan GUARANTEES seem to be
paying off.

The list of those participating in the ATSB program is interesting, the
airlines who's applications were denied is even more insteresting. Looks
like they weren't handing these out on a whim and took a long hard look
at the numbers (see the link at the end concerning United). This is an
example of the federal government doing their job very well.


Recently approved for gaurentees and but no loans yet:
Evergreen International Airlines

Approved and has gaurenteed loans out (in order of approval):
America West
ATA
Aloha
US Airways

Denied:
United*
Ozark dba Great Plains
MEDJet
National
Spirit
Vangaurd
Frontier Flying Service

Pending:
World Airlines
Corporate Airlines
Gemini Air Cargo


* the letter from the ATSB to United is interesting, looks like their
application had some holes in it.:
