Yes, that's why I keep it turned off. 95% of the time it's some animated ad
that keeps catching my eye while I'm trying to read the text on the page.
For the 5% of the time that it's useful, I turn it back on. But I wouldn't
go through the trouble for an unknown site, which is why I gave this one a
miss after reading a couple of the comments here.

Too bad, really, 'cause the design and the quality of the pictures are
just excellent.

thanks for your feedback thomas, thats fair enough

first let me say im not a fan of flash at all. ill be the first one to
press "skip intro"

But could you explain why you dont want to install it? there may be
somethings you like seeing? i dont understand the mentality of
purposely closing yourself off to certain content on the internet

if i lot of people think like this, maybe i will change the way the
fotos are displayed ...

take it easy,
stef

Due to your use of flash or something else I can't see a single picture
(!).

If you want your pictures to be seen, use techniques that are understood
everywhere in the world: plain html.
If someone has problems with watching html, then he has a serious problem
with his browser.
If someone has problems with watching flash, then the website author has a
serious problem with using non standard techniques.

Flash is for intros, for something that is not necessarily required to have
fun on the website.
If your site is about photos, the best thing to hide them from being viewed
is not to use html.

just my 0,02$

tmo

P.S.: Imagine this: "Welcome to my homepage! To watch it correctly, please
get the very latest browser (released only 2 days before) and plugin xyz in
combination with this-and-that(tm). Ah, almost forgot: Best viewed with
1600x1200".

On the other hand: "Best viewed with any browser."

I'm not Thomas but I can suggest some reasons.

1) Flash is a cpu hog. It runs ok on the 1.5GHz Athlon but sometimes I
browse from an aging sparc station. On that machine, engaging Flash
renders the site and virtually the whole machine unusable.

2) On most sites, the Flash version adds nothing but irritants and time
wasting.

3) Most sites auto-detect Flash rather than give users a choice. If I
want the HTML version, I have to uninstall the plugin.

I went ahead and tried it, and it didn't work. I had to "view source" on the
gallery page to get the name of the Flash file and then manually plug that
into the location bar.

The photos were good but after seeing it, I would maintain that the frippery
of the Flash detracts more than it adds.

Don't get me wrong: I *have* installed flash!
Miguel found out the link to the file and put it manually in the location
bar, so it worked.
Sorry if I don't want to go through such procedures just to view a website.
Maybe it's a good procedure to hide content from being viewed, but then
again: what's the use of such a website?

there may be somethings you like seeing? i dont understand the
mentality of purposely closing yourself off to certain content on the

internet

Hehe, it's not me that closes me off from the content. It's the website
author that is using non standard techniques. Why don't you use plain html?

Would be best to improve accessability and reduces the amount of problems
with viewing the site drastically.

html is not a bad thing and understood worldwide

cu, tmo
