Best airline BKK-KL ?
Chris Barrera wrote:
Which airline would be the best for frequent trips between BKK and KL ? Malaysian ? Thai ? Or is there not much difference ? (I wouldn't know) Thanks for any advice! I average about once a month between KUL and BKK. I've used all three (Malaysian, Thai, AirAsia) many times. Each has its advantages and disadvantages: 1) AirAsia: almost always the cheapest, especially if you are able to book a few weeks in advance, in which case it can be truly dirt cheap. The seating is very cramped and you have to pay for your own food and drinks (also cheap though). Unlike others, I've never experienced any significant delays with AirAsia despite taking dozens of flights. Not sure what to make of that. A huge advantage of AirAsia is that you can easily book online and get good fares, unlike the other two (book online with Malaysia Airlines and you'll pay about 3 times as much as at a travel agency). 2) Malaysia Airlines: By far the most comfortable. The most legroom, the best food, best in-flight entertainment, best crew, best everything. Also usually the most expensive (at least if you are originating in KL, it can be cheaper from Bangkok). They are not a member of any frequent flyer alliance so the miles are sort of a waste (you can credit them to NW/KLM but not for status). 3) Thai: In between the others in terms of service etc. No in-flight entertainment except for that inane Canadian "Just For Laughs" thing on a murky screen at the front of the cabin (doesn't matter that much on a 2-hour flight, I guess), fairly cramped seating (but I think you get one inch more than with AirAsia). Extremely unpleasant ground staff. Often competitively priced. They are in Star Alliance, so you get useful miles, and if you are Gold or higher you can use the lounges. miguel -- Photos from 38 countries on 5 continents: http://travel.u.nu Latest photos: Burma; Hong Kong; Macau; Amsterdam; Grand Canyon; Amman Airports of the world: http://airport.u.nu |
