Default Ocho Rios/ Dunns River Falls question

Anyone out there do an excursion on Ocho Rios to the Falls? My wife and
I are considering an excursion that does the falls and finishes up at
Jimmy Buffets Margaritaville.

I've heard that the locals are very pushy in Ocho Rios so we thought
we'd book a tour excursion with a group. We are hoping we'll avoid any
pushy stuff and just have an enjoyable day. The excursion lasts 4 hours
so we figure it will tie up most of the day.

Anyone do this tour and was it ok?

Yes, the local cab drivers outside the gate can be pushy, but there are
plenty of cabs inside the get that are available (they pay a higher tax for
the preference??) Do not fear going on your own, the driver will take you to
the Falls, maybe see some stuff on the way there, give you a time to meet
him back at the top after your climb and then you're on your own. Price is
set, and visible on a large board inside the parking area. As for pushy
souvenir sellers - they are just trying to earn a living. If you are
interested, enjoy the art of haggling down the price. If you are not
interested, say 'no thanks' and walk on. One GREAT service at the Falls was
the guy taking photos at the bottom pool - by the time you got to the top,
there was your "Me at Dunn's River Falls" photo, in a souvenir cardboard
frame, for $7 or so - not too bad a deal. We have one from every vacation
we go on - usually from theme park roller coasters - and the prices are
competitive.

We were there last month, Thanksgiving week. There was a taxi "starter" in
front of the pink building; before you exit the port area. For $5.50/PP
round trip we were in a van that took us to the falls and picked us up at a
pre-appointed time. We were given a receipt, together with the bus number
and driver's name. All went well. Everything right on time. Good
experience at the craft market. No one bothered us. If we asked
questions, we got answers. Nothing pushy at all.

P.S. Ships' excursion price is off the wall.

YEs the tour if your with Rccl that is called the Best of Ocho Rios is pretty
good it takes you over to Margaritaville but be forewarned there is alot of
things there you pay for, there is a reggae musuem included in this tour and
some other things that were very interesting.

Do not believe this though, you can still negotiate! Did this in December... I
gave MY price and said take it or we go outside gate and after a couple of them
argued over it a nice woman named Essie MAe took us for our price, there was a
van full of us, and it was here is what we will pay take it or leave it, THey
TOOK it! hahaha
