The company ordered 85 EMBRAER 170 jets and took options on an additional 50 in May 2003. US Airways plans to put the airplanes into service in early April. The EMBRAER 170 was awarded type certification from Brazilian, U.S. and European authorities last February, paving the way for deliveries to start in key markets of the world. US Airways is the nations seventh-largest airline, serving nearly 200 destinations in the U.S., Canada, Europe, the Caribbean and Latin America. US Airways, US Airways Shuttle and the US Airways Express partner carriers operate over 3,200 flights per day. The EMBRAER 170 is the first of a four-member family of commercial jets specifically designed for the untapped 70- to 110-seat market, providing passengers with unparalleled cabin comfort and baggage space, and carriers with excellent operating economics, performance, and reliability. 3/8/2004 EMBRAER DELIVERS FIRST EMBRAER 170 JET TO LOT POLISH AIRLINES Embraer announced today that Polands LOT Polish Airlines has taken delivery of its first EMBRAER 170 airliner. The airplane, leased from GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS), is planned to be placed into service before the end of March. Entry into service (EIS) for the new airliner is an important milestone for the program, where commitment to quality has been the guiding principle for Embraer and its partners and suppliers, said Flvio Rmoli, Embraers Senior Vice-President Airline Market.The rapid entrance of the EMBRAER 170s into commercial operation shows the excellent quality of its project, allowing for efficiency in crew training and reflecting Embraers irreproachable focus on customer support services. The new EMBRAER 170 fleet will support LOT Polish Airliness expansion of its regional network from the Warsaw hub by providing more seat capacity and aircraft range to access new markets. LOT Polish Airliness already flies 14 50-passenger ERJ 145 aircraft, and shall be operating 10 EMBRAER 170 up to mid-2005, with options for 11 more aircraft of the type. The EMBRAER 170 was recently awarded type certification from Brazilian, U.S. and European authorities, including the National Aviation Authority of Poland, paving the way for deliveries to start in key markets of the world.
