Default Eurodam 12/12 - 12/19 Rough Seas

We were on an 8 day eastern caribbean cruise, including Puerto Rico,
Grand Turk, St. Thomas and Half Moon Cay. The first few days was a trip
from hell, rocking like crazy. It was the first time I got sea sick and
it lasted days. They gave out a lot of sea sickness pills. I had a
room directly at the front of the ship. Some people who took tenders to
half moon cay got so sick they thought they were going to capsize and
die. I left the island earlier in the day so it was not that bad yet for
me. We did not like the bufett, lines to wait for food that was served
behind glass and hard to find a table. The shows were repeated and were
pretty awful. All in all I think I will stick to Royal Caribbean where
I had a much better experience.

Thanks Becca,

I wrote to Holland American because I was so angry about the cruise.
Besides the bad weather the ship is not laid out properly. The buffet
area is too small for the amount of passengers. Bee

Yes I have found the Royal Caribbean ships have plenty of seating on
their buffets. Bee

I don't think the issue is the number of seats in the buffet areas on RCI
vs. HAL. I think the issues on HAL is that many people use the buffet
seating as a hang out for multiple hours during the day. I noticed that
many people there weren't eating (lots were playing cards and other games).
I think it's because there is a major lack of seating in the main solarium
pool, and all the lounge chairs in the smaller aft pool area are in the hot
sun. Plus, on HAL many of the people aren't what I'd call the "pool crowd".
The buffet serves as a place with shade, where you can watch the ocean go
bye.

For what it's worth, on the Westerdam last week, I found the buffet tables
always crowded, but never had a problem finding an available one.

generally I agree with that...the buffet area IS cramped a bit! We
had a good time on the Eurodam, and scuba diving in Grand Turk was
awesome, but on the other hand, we got a big suite upgrade!!

I agree with Tom's observations. In fact, I'd hate to be on the new
HAL ships on a crowded sailing....not nearly enough lounge chairs in
either sun or shade! The private cabana type things are all totally
wrong....HAL is not a Vegas/Paris Hilton/rocking out a cabana/type
crowd....
