I have a t-shirt that raads "I AM NOT A TERRORIST".

Will wearing that get me through security more quickly? It is a lot
cheaper than a CLEAR card.

Try it and see. Make sure you have clothes in your carry-on
suitable for an overnight stay in the local cells.

I've found that the majority of TSA (or local equivalent)
staff are recruited for the thickness of their muscles,
especially the one between their ears. Part of the
recruitment process includes humour tests; anyone who smiles
at anything at all fails.

Boredom Clown.
What *exactly* is the UK looking for in leadership..?

The opposite.

Of whatever you currently have..?

Yes, as we all know, changing the government will always solve all problems!

I wouldn't let you onto the plane either...that is, until you got it
changed to *Bliar* lied...

Huh? (I thought your former PM's name WAS "Blair"!)

*sigh* It's a running joke in the UK to reverse the "a" and "i" in
Blair's name to get "Bliar." You really need this explained?

.....And you Brits accuse US of being insular! Not everyone lives in the
UK - although an English-language newsgroup, we seem to have posters
here from all over the world, and not all of us pay that much attention
to the politics of other countries. (You guys wouldn't find our
election process of much interest either, if it weren't for the
unmitigated disaster of our current "leadership"!)

I wouldn't call it a "joke", I consider it more appropiate given that he
is, in fact, a LIAR, and a criminal murdering scum as well.

Aren't you confusing him with Bush? (The slogan certainly originated
here, citing Bush as the liar - Blair was mostly described as merely
Bush's poodle.)

Yes, but this is a vastly wider audience than just the UK.
There's a bit of cultural difference in your joke. In the US it
would be much more common for the joke to capitalize the
A and I for the intended sense of emphasis. (i.e. Tony BlIAr).
There is a cartoon over here which has a running joke about
being an "individual" where it is spelled "inDUHvidual".

You really need this explained?

Typically cultural differences do. FWIW it's the first time
I've heard/seen the joke. Last I knew he was still Phoney Blair.

And in the U.S., the bumper sticker slogan that came out shortly after
our invasion of Iraq read "BUSH lied, thousands dies" - I'd never seen
the Blair version before.

I live in the USA. I travel. I read this newsgroup. So does EVG
(well, her travelling days might be behind her now, as the transition
to a dollar-based fixed income doesn't bode well for travelling to
euro-economy countries these days). I've seen numerous references to
"Bliar" over the last few years. It isn't *that* big of a cultural
difference, especially to well-read native-English speakers.

Many of us write it as B'liar

.....Which would make it clear it was a play on words, not a simple
mis-spelling. I try not to notice mis-spellings and mistakes in
grammar, here, since English is a second or third language for many of
our posters. (Although there seem to be plenty of oddities in spelling
and grammar among the native English-speakers, too.)

Maybe something better than we have here in the U.S.? (At lease, not a
"rubber stamp" for the U.S. president - Bush may not recognize the
concept of "sovereign nations", but the U.K. has been in existence
longer than the U.S.)

I'm not British. I live in the USA.

They were BOTH liars, but Bliar's surname actually contained the letters of
the word LIAR.
