Default San Juan -- What to do with luggages?

Hi all,

Since the ship usually docks back to San Juan early in the morning and
our flight is late in the afternoon, are there locker or something that we
can use to keep the luggage while we hang out in town? We probably don't
want to drag the luggage around for the whole day ;-)

And speaking of hanging out, are there _street_ maps of San Juan and/or
the ports of call of the Dawn Princess? I could not find them at the
local bookstores. I actually found one but the street portion of the
map looks more like what you would find in a phone book, only major streets.

Thanks.

Princess has some ship sponsored excursions where your luggage goes
with you and you are delivered directly to the airport when the
excrusion ends. We are planning one for our cruise in May since of
flight doesn't leave until 3:50pm.

Hi Henry,

Since you have most of the day in San Juan, why not rent a car that can
be dropped off at the airport? If that doesn't appeal, perhaps a taxi to
the airport for an early check-in and then jump on the city bus back to
town. The distance is short (10 miles) and the view from the bus is just
fine.

I have always found that I can leave bags with the bell-boy in any large
hotel (Wyndham Old San Juan) which you might find to be the easiest
solution.

For more details and maps, see:

Polo---why do you keep starting a new thread when you post a reply? It
is very annoying. And it made your reply appear ahead of the question.

I don't know what they are doing in San Juan but back in 2001, a month after
9/11, we tried to check our bags in Fort Lauderdale so that we could spend
some time with friends.

We were told that we could not check baggage that far in advance and we were
forced to drag the bags to our friends home for storage.

You may not have as much time in San Juan as you may think. We returned
to San Juan, early on January 11th, on the Norwegian Sky. By the time they
called our "red tag" departure, we had to go through on-board security
check, wait to get downstairs for customs, get our baggage and walk to our
taxi, it took about two hours.

By this time, it was around 11:30am.

Our flight departed San Juan at 3:15 pm, the arrival area of San Juan
airport is undergoing a facelift, and with three ships worth of passengers,
the airport is busy. The big carriers have long lines, the lines for
security as well. We managed to get to our gate about 1 1/2 hour prior to
departure.

Hope this helps your travel plans.

Most likely you are reading by date and time instead of by thread. In
Usenet, threaded newsreading is preferred and is the default. I don't
know if you have that option in webtv but you are breaking the thread
and starting a new thread when you change the subject line like you
just did by adding /Charles. Usenet compliant newsreaders will put that
in a new thread. You should only change the subject line if you are
changing the subject or topic.
