How to get from LA to Ensenada ?

Anyone know the best (cheap, convenient, quick, reliable, comfortable) way
to get from LA to Ensenada, Mexico ?


Would appreciate any help, coming over from the UK in December.

Go to Long Beach to board a ship. There are many. Overnight or so for
about $100 including food. Can't be beat!

Well, if you have a friend/relative in LA area, you can always drive a
personal car across the border to Mexico. The advantage of driving a
personal car (as opposed to taking a cruise trip) is that you can stop
by at Rosarito and Puerto Nuevo to sample Baja-style lobsters, while
driving along a scenic way to Ensenada. Also, you can drive to La
Bufadora where you can see the ocean geyser and do some shoppings at
interesting local establishments along the way.

There are a few disadvantages of driving a personal car. Additional car
insurance may be needed to drive in Mexico. The traffic signs in Mexico
are not as good as those in the US and can be confusing/misleading.
From the border to Ensenada, we have to pay pricey tolls on the scenic
route 2-3 times one way. Finally, the one that can spoil our trip is
when we have to wait in line for almost 2 hours at the border to return
to US.
