Yes I enjoy this experience, knowing that their not my kids and we
haven't missed much by not
having any of our own brats.

Inspector Gadget

I won't be cruising and enjoying life had I not missed the joy of parenthood.
you are correct.

I'm always so happy to read that people with such poor attitudes, and
the inablility to see more than one side of any issue, are not
contributing to the future of our gene pool.

Margaret,

Your reply is priceless. Thanks for sharing that gem.

"are not contributing to the future of our gene pool" Are there not enough
people in the world already? Be glad everyone is not having 2.5 kids. We
would be more overrun with people then we are already.

Simply horrendous!

Adults need a license to drive an automobile, but not to have children
.. . . go figure.

Amen to that sentiment, Ernie.

You keep telling yourself that and remember that when you die alone and
unloved in a state run nursing home.

Just the kind of parent I would NOT want to be, is one that expects their
kids to take care for them when they are old. They will have their own life
to lead and that is exactly what I would want them to do. I would certainly
NOT expect my kids to take care of me when I'm old, nor would I want them
to. I would want them to live their own life and enjoy it.

Also, who says just because you don't have kids you will grow old to be
unloved and uncared for? Have you ever heard of a spouse, partner, friends,
etc? Besides, who says your kids will outlive you anyway? Wrong attitude
to be sure.

Surely you're kidding?? Have you any idea how many older parents
never see their adult children, how many adult children have to
actually be taken into court as legally responsible relatives in order
to help provide for their parents in nursing homes? Your scenario is
a rosey (but false) depiction at best.

No one should have a child in order to put them to work or make them
feel guilty. Both reasons are bad excuses for parenthood.

I applaud people who realize that they are not cut out for parenthood, and
so choose not to bring a child into the world that they are unprepared to
nurture into adulthood. As a teacher in a public high school, I can say
that I wish a lot more people had made that decision!!!!

Thank you for saying that, Chris.

As a former probation officer and custody report writer for the
judiciary, I wish the very same thing.
