How to become a travel agent?
I want to become a travel agent to work in Florida. How does one become
certified? Is there a license required as well? Any help as where to start would be greatly appreciated. -- Thank you, Hal http://over100percent.com |

Your best information will come from travel agents working in agencies large and small mom & pop. Call some local agencies. Be up front about what information you'd like. Some may be too busy, but if you are persistent you'll get some really useful information. If you really want to make a living at this, consider living someplace that people want to get away from rather then a vacation spot like Florida where people want to go to. Minneapolis St. Paul, MN and Fargo, ND are two locations that come to mind where you can sell a lot of cruises and travel packages to "someplace warm". -- ____ Brian M. On the other hand, agents in Hawaii do bang up business booking tours to Las Vegas. -- ____ Brian M. I would add that such a thing is for a certain kind of TA. Some TA's I know moved into a more "wholesale" area of creating and selling packages in areas where they had some expertice (and access to be able to negotiate prices). If you do live in an area that attracts tourists, you could establish yourself as a seller of tour packages in your area. Strictly speaking one doesn't have to be a TA to do such a thing, but it would make life easier in some ways. |
