Where to rent a keelboat in NZ?
Anyone know of a place in NZ where an experienced sailor could rent a
small keelboat (22-28) for one night? I'm not looking for big orgnized cruises or extended rentals. I just want something for an overnight in the sort of boats I sail regularly (22-28 foot fixed keelboats). While it would be great to find something on the west coast - I suspect Auckland is the best source for this. Something around the bay of islands or the north coast would be great too. |

Where to rent a keelboat in NZ?
There are sites that offer keelboats for rental in Auckland, Bay of Islands
and Marlborough Sounds. Most are bigger than 28 foot as in NZ any smaller has a folding keel and is kept on the from lawn of the owners house! All west coast harbours have sandbars at the entrance, making them too risking for those who do not know local conditions extremely well. A google on "bareboat charter auckland" will turn up lots eg http://www.charterlink.co.nz/ Another alternative is to try www.yellowpages.co.nz I know there are some Beneteau yachts for charter in Auckland.
