Default Crossing Hyde Park Corner, London

I am arriving at Heathrow and going to the Mayfair area. Someone
suggested that I take the Airbus since it stops at Hyde Park Corner.
However, the map shows that the bus stop is diagonally across from
where I want to be--it is on the southwest corner, and Mayfair begins
at the northeast corner.

How does one cross the roads? Are there stairs to enter and leave the
underpass or are there gradual ramps throughout? This last is
important because I will have suitcases and wouldn't want to deal with
them on too many stairs.

Thanks for any information you can provide.

There is a complicated underpass under Hyde Park Corner roundabout. The
exits have both ramps and steps.

I'd like to see that cabbie face. "Where to mate", "50 yards over there"

At least it's not south of the river :-)

I've never understood the traditional reluctance of cabbies to do short
journeys. They get more money in the early stages of a trip.

Seriously I wouldn't have thought the underpass was that confusing - just
follow the signs to Park Lane.

Done it before. It's sometimes the easiest way, when completely lost, to find where you want to
go. Slightly embarrassing when your destination turns out to be round the corner.

Now, now...

London is a wonderful city, except for the costs, food, weather,
underground, crowds, pickpockets, hospitals, beggars, and general grimeyness
of it all.

It's not complicated at all, it just has lots of options. If you pick the
wrong option you are yards from the correct option and there are signs
everywhere. This should be the least of your worries. Have a wonderful trip
to a wonderful city.
