Crystal Awarded Number One Cruise Line Spa!
Hi Everyone,
I received this press release from Crystal Cruises and thought it would be of interest. If you have missed any of my news' postings, they are available on my web site. Best regards, Ray LIGHTHOUSE TRAVEL 800-719-9917 or 805-566-3905 http://www.lighthousetravel.com Crystal Cruises Awarded Number One Cruise Line Spa in Conde Nast Traveler 2004 Readers' Spa Poll LOS ANGELES, April 22 The discerning readers of Conde Nast Traveler have once again recognized Crystal Cruises as the very best cruise line spa in the magazine's 2004 Readers' Spa Poll of spas in North America and the Caribbean. Crystal's overall score of 89.0 places the luxury line ahead of the four other cruise lines recognized in the annual survey, as well as many of North America's most renowned resort and destination spas including Tucson's Canyon Ranch health resort, Ten Thousand Waves in Santa Fe and the Bacara Resort & Spa in Santa Barbara. Cruise line spas were rated on cabins, workout facilities, treatments and staff/service, with Crystal taking top honors in three of the four categories including its Asian-inspired treatments and Feng Shui-designed exercise facilities. Despite Crystal's number one standing among all cruise lines and its high marks for treatments, it is the company's impressive score in the critical area of staff/service that puts the luxury cruise line on par with the best spa purveyors in the nation. With a score of 96.4, the line ranks number eight for staff/service among the 47 spas listed. "A soothing, therapeutic or energizing spa experience is such a perfect complement to Crystal's luxury cruise experience," says Crystal President Gregg L. Michel. "We recognize that stimulation of mind and body, diet and fitness are an increasingly important part of our sophisticated clientele's daily lifestyle and we continue to answer their needs with purpose-built spa facilities, expertly trained staff, healthy gourmet dining options, and an exacting attention to the individual needs of each guest." Indeed, Crystal's progressive wellness philosophy is evidenced by its innovative enrichment programming both onboard and ashore. Less than a year ago, the award-winning cruise line launched its revolutionary Creative Learning Institute with a dedicated fitness component featuring hands-on, interactive instruction in Thai Chi and health and fitness seminars conducted by the renowned Cleveland Clinic. Utilizing her signature WALKVEST, fitness expert Debbie Rocker recently debuted a custom-made "Walk on Water" program for the cruise line designed to maximize the health benefits of walking. Among its array of state-of-the-art gym equipment is a Pilates Reformer for one-on-one sessions with a personal trainer. Ashore, guests may choose from myriad active and soft-adventure excursions -- from snorkeling the waters of Ketchikan to mountain biking the hills of Corfu to kayaking the canals of Copenhagen. Operated by Steiner Leisure, the world's largest spa company, the Crystal Spas employ therapists dedicated to the cruise line who must complete extensive training not only in the fundamentals of Feng Shui and Eastern massage, but also in the core values of the Crystal service philosophy. The Crystal Spa, found aboard Crystal Harmony, Crystal Symphony and Crystal Serenity, is designed in accordance with the principles of Feng Shui, the Asian art of placement, to evoke health, prosperity and happiness, and offers a variety of treatments applying these principles to the body. The luxurious floating resorts feature a range of therapies designed to alleviate stress and tension, from Yin Yang Facials with essential oils to Exotic Lime & Ginger Salt Glow with Well-Being Massage to Aroma Stone Therapy using heated volcanic basalt stones and aromatherapy to release tension. Complementing the treatments are sports activities, a fully equipped gym, and group and private training in yoga and Pilates, disciplines of stretching that engage both the mind and the body. For the Spa poll, the independent firm of Digital Connexxions asked 10,526 readers to rate 224 cruise ship spas and destination, resort, and urban hotel spas in North America and the Caribbean that they had visited in the past three years. Detailed award results are featured in the April 2004 issue of Conde Nast Traveler. Last fall, the readers of Conde Nast Traveler bestowed Crystal with its eighth consecutive award as "Best Large-Ship Line," and earlier in 2003, Crystal was voted "World's Best Large-Ship Cruise Line" by the readers of Travel + Leisure also for the eighth year in a row. These prominent awards are joined by a host of other recognitions from both consumers who purchase the vacations and the travel trade that sells them. Crystal Cruises operates the ultra-luxurious 940-guest Crystal Harmony and Crystal Symphony, and the 1,080 guest Crystal Serenity, heralded as three of the most spacious ships afloat. The luxury vessels sail on worldwide itineraries to Alaska, Asia, Australia/New Zealand, the Panama Canal, Mexican Rivera and Caribbean, Europe, the Mediterranean, Canada/New England and South America.
