Default Alaska

My husband and I are thinking about going to Alaska to work over the summer
2004. My first thought was that it would be fun. After talking to a lot of
people about it I don't know what to think. They all seem to think that I would
have a terrible time because there isn't much for females to do there (work
wise that is) What is your oppinion? Has anyone been there?

Default Alaska

My wife and I went last August. This was her suggestion, and her 2nd visit!
She is not particularly outdoorsy, but also wanted something besides the
stifling itinerary cruises offer. We did a mostly land tour with Tauck
Tours, but you can also book these things independently. There were as many
women as men on the tour, and the tour guide was a woman.

We were so pleased with the trip, I set up a website of stills and videos of
some of the things we saw.

You may find things a little on the pricy side there; it's remote and things
are more expensive to bring in - but it's a must-see, and as they say, "It's
OURS!". I felt proud that this was part of the U.S.

The high points for me were walking on Mendenhall Glacier, Denali Park and a
boat trip out of Seward. I was amazed to learn Alaska's population is only
about 630,000, quite a few of which are natives, and that in general the
natives seem to have gotten a better shake than, say, our Seminoles and
Cherokee.

If you go, enjoy!
