Larchmont, NY train station
Hello,
I am planning a visit to the New York City area next month. I've already booked a hotel room in the 'burbs, and I am planning on taking the train into Manhattan on one of the days. I'm considering using the Larchmont train station. In which case, I have two questions: 1. What is the parking situation at or near the station? Bearing in mind I will be doing this after morning rush hour. 2. If you are coming from the north on I-95, heading south, where do you get off, and what are the directions to the train station? I know there is an exit off the northbound lane, but not off the southbound lane. At least not that I know of! I have visited Larchmont many times. It has a cozy, village-type ambience. The Metro-North train station is conveniently located on the East side of I-95, next to the Interstate. There's a large parking next adjacient to the Eastside platform. There's another lot on the West side, but its across I-95. There is a National car rental agency which I have used. From the South, you simply turn [R] onto Chatsworth, cross the bridge over I-95 and you're there. But from the North, its tricky. IMO, your best bet is to exit at Mamaroneck Ave. and head [S] to the Boston Post Road (U.S. 1). You will pass a Metro-North train station (Mamorneck), then turn [R] onto the Boston Post Road. After 1.8 miles, turn [R] onto Chatsworth, and you will find the station 1/2 a mile down the road on the [R], just before the station. |

But how difficult is it to find a parking space at the station, say, after 11 AM? That's when I'd most likely be setting out. ----== Posted via Newsfeeds.Com - Unlimited-Uncensored-Secure Usenet News==---- http://www.newsfeeds.com The #1 Newsgroup Service in the World! 120,000+ Newsgroups ----= East and West-Coast Server Farms - Total Privacy via Encryption =---- |

I think that there will be space available in the lot on the East side of the tracks, just before I-95. But if its full, there is a large lot on the other side of I-95, a couple of blocks North of Chatsworth. You cross over the I-95 overpass, hang a right and follow a curve around to the left. You'll need to hike back to Chatsworth and over I-95, but a stairway from the overpass leads down to the station. A small waiting room and a ticket counter is on the West side platform. =R= |
