French tourist raped on Phuket
Tuesday, December 19, 2006
Police hunt for Kamala rapist KAMALA: Kamala police are searching for a Thai man accused of rapeing a 23-year-old French tourist in the early hours of December 7. Police declined to release the name of the suspect. Pol Maj Monsak Srisuwan, the Duty Inspector at Kamala Police Station, said that the woman, a waitress in France who was in Phuket on holiday, told police that about 2:30 am as she was walking back from a bar to her rented house, she was grabbed by a man, dragged into a car repair garage and rap*ed. After reporting the attack, the woman was taken to Vachira Phuket Hospital to be examined. Police are still waiting on the results of the tests, Maj Monsak said. The victim returned to France on December 13 after testifying in court. "We know the identity of the attacker and have issued a warrant for his arrest. He is a local man but so far he has managed to elude the police," Maj Monsak added. |
