Default Travelling from Gold Cooast to Forestlake (BNE)

Arriving at Coolongatta in early March 2007.
Can anyone suggest how to travel from Gold Coast Airport to Forest Lakes
(BNE) by Public Transport
in the Sth of Brisbane. Nearest sububurb is Browns Plains. Does anybody know
if their is a rail service
that would run near Forest Lake. Unfortunately Rental Cars are becoming very
expensive.

Any reponses appreciated

TIA

Forest Lakes is a satellite town, actually in the Shire of Beaudesert - so
no Brisbane Public Transport of any real value.

If there is anything at all it will be found he

very simple ... take airport shuttle to Bilinga and catch the Robina Rail
bus from there, then from Robin Rail take train to Southern BEN ... all
together about a 2 hour trip and will cost about 25 AUD.

coaster - that's the easy way to get to Southern Brisbane (I guess you mean
South Brisbane train station) - which is nowhere near Forest Lake.

The nearest station is probably Wacol or Darra on the Ipswich line
(http://www.railmaps.com.au/brisbane.htm). You could get a cab from these
stations and it is about a 15/20 minute drive to Forestlake.
Dean
PS: Forestlake is not in Beaudesertshire, it's a suburb of Brisbane City.

Excuse my ignorance, but where is Bilinga???
I presume there are buses from Gold Coast Airport that would take you to
Robina Station.???

I have tried contacting Translink on their 131230 nbr, but alas it is
barred
from Interstate callers. Someone else suggested to me to catch the
AIrport
Train to Yerongpilly and try to get a Forest Lake Bus from there.

I managed to access the Travel Planner on Translink website but after
entering all bus and train details it just sits there and does nothing.

Talk about trying to grope about in the dark. But at least you Guys on
this
Newsgroup have been quite helpful

Translink worked for me!

The Route you need is Route 100 - Brisbane Transport.

Timetable is he

It appears to intersect the Train network at a number of points.

It does, but when I catch the TRain from Robina I have to change at
Yerongpilly and backtrack one stop to Morooka Stn
and catch the 100 from there to Forestlake shops.

This time I chose Coolongatta over Brisbane as the Fare is only $49.00
o/w on VB.
Would have cost $79.00 to BNE. The $30.00 saved will cover the cost of
Buses and Trains.

Frankly - qansett - (just why you chose this nom de plume is probably worth
a post!!) Forest Lake is well out of the city's usual reach. It's in the
bush! Cost to get there is accordingly high (and time loooong!!).

I have been there - paddled a canoe on the Lake, no less! But! I'd not go
there except for a very real, probably familial, reason!
