Tiger is Entering the Oz Market

They're definitely coming. I have doubts as to the viability
of three airlines here, remembering Ansett, Compass and
others. My fear would be the possible failure of Qantas
Domestic/Jetstar.

This time around the scenario is considerably different. Unlike Compass,
Tiger have substantial financial backing. They could exist for quite a while
when the established operators try to undercut them. Ansett had its own
problems, with too many aircraft types and expensive crewing arrangements.
There is potential for Qantas to hive off further routes to Jetstar.

If you look at the European and to a lesser extent the USA and Asian
situation with the plethora of cut-price operators entering the market, I
feel that Australia will more than cope with an additional operator.

Tiger have been running the Darwin to Singapore route for close to 12
months now, and have either just begun, or about to begin, Perth to
Singapore.

Air Asia are about to hit the market in the next 12 months as well.

Exciting times are ahead, boys & girls.
