Default Costa Rica + daily budget?

Just wondering what a daily budget in Costa Rica should be?
I'm used to roughin it when travelling so would be taking very
basic rooms and normalty live on street food and cheap local
restaurant food when travelling.

Cheers.

Depends on where you are going, CR is a big country. For example, we
saw $5 rooms at La Fortuna, near the Arenal Volcano. The cheapest meals
would be at sodas where locals eat. Get a guide book from the library;
I liked the Rough guide.

If you want a basic room, it'd easily be $50 or less and usually very clean.
Typicals or cassatas (hope I spelled that right), meaning meals the locals
eat, are usually $3. They are delicious and served in the sodas
(restaurants).
fresh fish, beef or chicken, rice, beans, sometimes a boiled egg, sometimes
plantains. Ummm. The best!

Sorry to correct that one "poster", but Costa Rica is a small country, about
the size of West Virginia. Best travel book is Frommers Guide to Costa
Rica.
