latter.

How about it no longer lets illegals get off scott free
(immigration-wise) after their first brush with police.

Jose gets caught violating the 'open container' law in public (having

a
beer in the park say) a minor crime where he will just recieve a

ticket.
He's illegal and on account of the new law he will be arrested and
deported just like you would be in an EU country and *many* others for
violating their immigration laws.

Not exactly. Jose will be arrested, detained, and maybe
ICE will be notified, and maybe they will take him into
THEIR custody and deport him. If they don't, what do you
expect the local jail to do? Hold him in custody forever,
at local taxpayer expense?

The supporters of this new law seem to think that
arrest = immediate deportation. It doesn't.

PS: Local jails have been reporting illegal aliens
to the feds for years, WITHOUT a law like Arizona has.

Irving Texas reports arrested illegal immigrants to ICE
Oct-2-07

Last year, the city of Irving, Texas started turning over
illegal immigrants that were arrested within the city, to
Immigration and Customs Enforcement, otherwise known as
I.C.E.

Irving police last year began using what’s called the 24/7
Criminal Alien Program. It provides for around-the-clock
communication with federal authorities and is designed to
detain illegal immigrants who have been accused of a crime.
It’s the latest tool being used by local governments in the
absence of a federal overhaul of immigration laws. So far,
Irving police have turned over more than 1,600 people to
immigration officials.

If caught, should they be deported for
breaking multiple Fed & State laws
(besides the Fed laws for being here &
entering illegally, state employment laws,
so multiple laws broken)?

What "state employment laws" are you
talking about?

I've called you on major points in this thread and you didn't respond
but you nit-pic a minor 3 word statement of mine.

Your post was in response to Hauten, not me,
(in the portion of the notestream you deleted) so I
have no obligation to respond to any of it.

You used a term that made me curious so I am
asking about it.

So an illegal alien illegally working in a state either for cash or
under a fake Social Security Number using a fake name and receiving a
paycheck.

That is a violation of federal law.

Would not violate *any* 'State Laws' reguarding the Work Place or any
'State Dept of Labor' Laws?

I am just trying to clarify the term YOU used.

Could you perhaps point to a single "state employment
law" that you are talking about?

There's plenty of state employment law, Holman, e.g. minimum wage
above the US federal minimum wage is set by the states.

"It is illuminating for purposes of reflection, if not for
argument, to note that one of the greatest 'fictions' of our
federal system is that the Congress exercises only those powers
delegated to it, while the remainder are reserved to the States or
to the people. The manner in which this Court has construed the
Commerce Clause amply illustrates the extent of this fiction.",
