Trip Report for Carnival Paradise EASTERN Caribbean?
I've been on that cruise twice, but not under its current itinerary. Nassau
is fine, and it should be better now that the ship actually spends some time in port there. I've never been to Cada de Campo so I can't comment about that place. Its supposed to have some excellent golf courses if you play golf. Saint Thomas is simply gorgeous, and if you can get over to Trunk Bay in St. John, that would be even better. The Paradise is in good shape. The passengers are a little tamer compared to other Carnival cruise ships because of the no smoking rule, which is STRICTLY enforced. You aren't even allowed matches or lighters. The bars tend to be quieter, and the casino, too. The shows are well attended, though. Tom Smith "Scott" wrote in message ... Trip Report for Carnival Paradise EASTERN Caribbean?
My wife and I were welcomed aboard the
"De/Az PARADISE" on march 30th of this year. Our only disappointment during the whole cruise was the weather. Winds gusted up to 50 knots and we had seas of 18 feet, but we had a great time. The Paradise Bar was neat. There was piano music with Mark, and the "Sweet Dreams Classical Trio" played classical music. They would alternate playing from about noon to 2 or 3pm every day and from 5-6 and 7:30-8:30 in the evening and night. Formal nights were on monday and friday. If only the shore excursion talk was just that then we would have gone to it but they also talk about shopping and that is a SCAM talk, IMO. We walked around Nassau and shopped and just browsed some of the jewelry stores. Nassau was on monday. Tuesday was a day at sea and wed. was the next port of call which was La Romana/Casa de Campo. I actually liked the beach sand there(excursion to Catalina Island) better than at Magen's Bay in St. Thomas, but Magen's Bay was prettier ,I thought. It was a softer sand beach. Thursday was St. Thomas and we took the Magen's Bay Paradise Point tour. We went to Magen's Bay first for about 2-3 hrs then to Paradise Point. After the ride up the hill the rain came down and you could not see the view of the bay. It did let up ten minutes before out taxi left for the ship. Friday and saturday were both days at sea and arrived on sunday. The next time we take any cruise out of Miami we will fly into and out of either FLL or PBI. I bet we waited two hours just to get to the security check. The line had to have been equivalent to walking (standing around for ten minutes then take a step, stand around..........) around a city block. I would like to go again on calmer seas. JDR |
