Interesting considering we just put a deposit on the NCL Jewel repo at a
25% discount to brochure/web rates.

Here is what Cruise Club of America had to say about the new cruise line
pricing policies:

"If you are a veteran cruiser then I'm sure you are aware of the fact
that last August Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruises instituted a
strict "No Discounting" regulation to all travel agents. The message to
all agents was made crystal clear, discount these brands and lose your
ability to sell them. Prior to Royal Caribbean and Celebrity's
announcement last August, Carnival Cruise Line released information that
they would prohibit the advertising of discounted prices beginning in
January of 2005. Now, just a few days ago, Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL)
also announced a no discount advertising policy to be instituted at the
start of 2005! In case you didn't know, Princess and Holland America
(which round out the top six cruiselines), are both owned by Carnival
and our prediction is that they will quickly fall in line with
Carnival's policy of no discount advertising. Cruiselines are like
sheep, as soon as one or two introduce a major policy change the others
follow right behind!"

This is nice to hear, perhaps they don't know about Econ 101 and how
pricing affects demand for a product.

Hi,

The cruise lines are not giving up their right to lower or raise
prices depending upon demand. They do it several times a day in some
cases.

Best regards,

I don't remember being friends the first time.
