DO NOT EVER BOOK A UNIWORLD CRUISE
I agree about the insurance. They are sooooo hard to negotiate with. How can you be insured on a cruise that doesn't exist? The insurers (the ones that offer coverage for financial default) will generally take the point of view that their money was at risk -- and their premium fully earned -- the moment you buy the policy even if you are not subject to any cancellation penalties until a later date. If the cruise line goes belly-up a week after you make your deposit they're stuck with paying the claim even though the contracted cancellation penalties may not kick in until months later. All of the insurers will allow you to transfer the coverage to any replacement travel arrangements and some (CSA and Travel Guard come to mind) are generally willing to at least consider a refund of the premium on a case by case basis depending on the circumstances. If it's done it's strictly on a customer relations basis as they are not required to do anything in these circumstances. |

If it was a River Cruise you are talking about, then Globus/Comos are now
doing them. They are a reliable company that have been in the industry for many years. I have booked people to Europe thru them and their vacation has met their expectations. Diane Giambalvo Travel Consultant GalaxSea Cruises And Tours East Brunswick, NJ 1-800-357-9393 http://www.galaxseaeb.com |

Jeff, try Grand Circle. They have all kinds of river cruises. We did a
great one with them (Russia) several years ago. Arlene Jeff Gersten wrote: (Diane Giambalvo) wrote: If it was a River Cruise you are talking about, then Globus/Comos are now doing them. We would consider a river cruise again, but not with Uniworld. My wife would have settled for them guaranteeing the rate we paid for a similar cruise to Holland and Belgium in the summer. I don't know if I would have trusted them. They instead offered us a cruise in Germany. They probably looked at it as a more expensive cruise, but it was not one that we were interested in in all. |

So are you trying to tell me that when YOU took YOUR Grand Circle river
cruise in Russia you did it through the auspices of NCL or Uniworld? Arlene Asya Kamsky wrote: In article , ArleneL wrote: Jeff, try Grand Circle. They have all kinds of river cruises. Hi Arlene, FWIW, Grand Circle is a travel agency that books cruises for clients with many cruise lines, just like any other agency. That doesn't answer my question Ray. I was very explicit as to a specific
cruise. I've travelled with GC many times and know all about their organization. Please go back to the original post on a river cruise; specifically Russia. Arlene ---doesn't intend to get involved in "he said, she said." Hi Arlene, I am not sure what you are asking as I was trying to explain that Grand Circle is a travel agency, nothing more, nothing less. Sorry if I did answered a question you were not asking. I'm not nearly old enough to use GCT myself, however, I've browsed many of their brochures at my parents' house, they have also booked group tours with GTC which included cruises (on NCL among others). Checking their website, it appears that since '99 they claim to operated seven of their own ships on some itineraries. However those same ships appear on other travel sites (some based on Europe) as *their* ships or as ships with no affiliation mentioned to GTC. I'm guessing it's one of those things where each of the tour/travel agencies charters these ships (or GTC actually operates them but charters them out to other groups/agencies) -- Asya Kamsky "To forgive is an act of compassion.
